Sogry If we had only 3 guys on Team Sorgy versus the 6 on Team Acker isn't our greater then their and means we finished ahead of them and the other Teams with more than 3 guys on thier teams?Let's check the math: 6 guys - 0 fish / 6 = 0 avg. 3 guys - 0 fish but fished 3 foot waves + won the Irish Car Bomb Contest / 3 = 0.1 avg? Team Sorgy is the Best and will Return in 2011 |

Thoughts on Extending the League?
Guy's, The fall league would be a good way to keep the chapter members involved with each other. Over the years we talked about some of the options. Adding the Rush Lake Challunge to the summer league ect. The everyone contributes a favorite bait to a pot for the big fish of the year would be a great idea. Hours of the league are tough to figure out. You almost need the longer block of time to up the odds of members catching fish. Include some prime time around sunset and sunrise ect. Sept and Oct woudl be awsome. on these t.c. lakes. I would look at hooking up with the Twin Cities Chapter- I belive Jodi Dahms ran there league. We used to alwas have a fall contest with the T.C. chapter for braging rights over the winter. It would also bring in more people to make it comppet**ive. Teh bonus points for partners, showing up and new or youth members are great- How about if you fish with members from the other chapter- a good way to mix it up and meet many new people. Good Luck with the league Steve Sorgenfrei |

A fall league is a good idea. 4:30-8:00 or something like that would probably work still on Tuesday'. Trying new lakes is fun particularly if the lake is relatively new to most involved in the league night. We could probably help each other figure the lake out quicker. I would be all for Tonka or Waconia being added to the fall schedule. Another option would be Saturday mornings from 7:00-11:00 or something like that. |

Hey Guys, I just found this site and am very new to Muskie fishing. I would definitely be interested in a fall league if I was still able to get in. Does anyone know which lakes would be fished? I am not familiar with a lot of the lakes but would like to give it a try. Please let me know how the leagues work, would love to join... Ben |

Brainstorming: How about a summer league and a fall league. My falls are busier than my summers and I'm sure for others its the other way around. New lakes would be nice-- its the parking space that makes it difficult. Tonka will be much quieter in the fall, you might be able to do a couple nights there. Rush Lake -- has lots of parking, but its a long haul for many. Hours - Could go with Tuesdays through september except for our meeting night. Perhaps try sunday afternoons in Oct and November 1- 5 or 6. Youth Division? probably not necessary, but may get more involved if we have seperate prizes for them. One difficulty for us is after the boys and I fish together the first two weeks we can no longer get partner points for each other and its difficult to find partners for all of us week after week. Perhaps you get 2 pts any time you take one of your own kids out and if you take a youth that isn't your kid you get 3 pts instead of 2 as a bonus, similar to new member bonus? Anyway, think we should try a fall league and work out any kinks we run into for next year. |

Team Sorgy - was a little under gunned with only 3 of us. Now if we would have had a full 6 man team we could have still tied for 11th place with 0 pts. Team "Acker" aka as catch a big fattie (52") the day before the challunge also tied for 11th lace. I Mr Parks - good job on the shirts. The Challunge was again a fun time- I got to know Dan and Dave and look forward to to meeting up with them and many others at the meetings this winter. I don't know the final fish count but Wes and Ken Worel put on a clinic for the other 175 people. Go get them next year Steve |

MI Chapter Challunge - Lake Vermilion
I fished the Chapter Challenge for the first time as part of Team Sorgy! Even though a cold front and wind came in and killed the number of fish for all the contestants it was unbelievable fun trip with my North Metro Team mates. Will I do it again. You bet. What could have made it better? Maybe if Bob Anderson had got up there to fill out Team Sorgy for us. I will post more on the trip this week. However most of what happens at the Chapter Challenge stays at the Chapter Challenge including all the spots we learned. Thanks to Dave Parks, Pat, Acker and the rest of the guys for the great time! |

Good idea Bob, giving out baits for a biggest fish is a good idea. That way people that are behind in standings can still have a chance to win something. I thought about the sun going down earlier and earlier and thought sticking with 9pm as a stop time for the first month might be a good thing. It would give people around an hour to night fish. Not sure how big everyone is on nightfishing but its definately one of my favorites. As for promoting to kids, maybe separate standings could be used and prizes given to 1-3 positions. Then give them a bonus of being able to be in the adult standings as well? As long as Logan doesn't show everybody up I don't see people complaining about being beat by a kid. Thoughts? |

Subject :We need your support - DNR to seek public input on five muskie stocking proposal
Thought I would pa** this on incase people are not aware. Pretty sure you are but don't want to a**ume. We wanted to let you know of some important public input meetings by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR). They are holding seven input open house meetings on September 2, 2010 for citizens to learn about and comment on agency muskellunge stocking proposals. The DNR is considering stocking muskellunge in five new waters starting in the fall of 2011 due to growing interest in muskellunge fishing. Proposed for muskellunge management are Roosevelt Lake in Ca** and Crow Wing counties, Upper South Long Lake and Lower South Long Lake in Crow Wing County, Tetonka Lake in LeSueur County, and the Sauk River Chain of Lakes in Stearns County. What Does This Mean For You? We Are Looking For Your Support We are looking for your support concerning the proposals for the five new muskie lakes. If we do not show our support we could lose out on five new waters. We know muskie fishing is growing and you may have seen that growth with increased traffic on your favorite spot. How You Can Show Your Support Head over to one the meetings listed below and show your support. You will be able to talk with the DNR representatives, ask questions, learn more and show support for the the stocking proposals. Meetings are at the following location on September 2nd: Mankato - Gander Mountain, 11:30 a.m. - 8 p.m. - Owatonna - Cabela's, 11:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.
- Waterville - DNR fisheries office, 50317 Fish Hatchery Road, 11:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.
- Brainerd - DNR office, 1601 Minnesota Drive, noon - 8 p.m.
- St. Paul - DNR office, 500 Lafayette Road, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- Montrose - DNR fisheries Office, 7372 State Highway 25 SW, 12:30 - 4:30 p.m
- Cold Spring - City offices, 27 Red River Ave. S., Cold Spring, 5 - 8 p.m.
If you cannot stop by one of the meetings near you, public comments will also be accepted from September 1 through September 30 online at muskie.comments@state.mn.us, and by mail to Muskie Stocking Proposals, Minnesota DNR, 1201 East Highway 2, Grand Rapids, MN 55744. We Are Looking For Your Support For Five New Lakes With your support we can see a five new lakes starting in 2011. More lakes. More fish. Great future. It starts here and we need your support. Spread the word. Talk to your friends. Forward the email. We are looking for all the support we can get. |

I think extending the league is a good idea. I haven't been able to fish a league night this year but have always enjoyed it in the past. I really like the lure idea and think that if you kept separate points as you mentioned that would work out well. the only issue I see you running into is that later in the season the sun sets pretty early and it might be hard for guys to get out. I like the idea of extending it, whether it is next year or this year. Not sure about Tigers, as the lakes are smaller, (generally), and might have to fish early in the year or later for water temps to be down a bit. I like the lure idea, but rather than giving it to the winner of the league, as they are already getting stuff, why not give it to the biggest fish of league night? and what can we do to promote more kids fishing the league? I am wondering what some of your thoughts are on extending the league? We could try it this year but it would have to be a new set of standings as it would not be fair to everyone. Would you guys like to see more league nights? Would you fish them all the way until seasons end? Would you prefer a different night for the extended league so they do not interput upcoming meetings? Would you like to add a few lakes? Tiger Lakes? Have a muskie bait pool where everyone that wants to participate could throw a bait in and the winner at the end of the year gets all the baits? Let me know please! Mark |
